Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka has raved about Liverpool star and England international teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Bukayo Saka has said on Channel 4 that Trent Alexander-Arnold is a top player, with the Arsenal winger praising the Liverpool right-back for helping him score his second goal for England against North Macedonia.

England hammered North Macedonia 7-0 at Old Trafford in UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying Group C on Monday evening.

Saka scored a hat-trick for the Three Lions.

The Arsenal star’s second goal in the 47th minute was arguably the best of the three.

Liverpool right-back Alexander-Arnold provided a brilliant long pass that Saka controlled perfectly and slammed home.

Alexander-Arnold is a right-back by trade, but the £160,000-a-week (SalarySport) started on the right of a midfield three for England against North Macedonia.

The 24-year-old was playing in a midfield role for Liverpool in the final weeks of last season as well.

Saka said about Alexander-Arnold playing in midfield: “He’s a top player. At half-time he said to me he was going to do that pass.

“When I scored I was looking for him to thank him. I didn’t have to break my stride.”

Encouraging

Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold was criticised by many last season for struggling defensively.

And we have to say that the 24-year-old should have done better at the back for Liverpool.

However, the England international is flourishing in a midfield role now.

Alexander-Arnold has a wide passing range and is very good at creating chances.

Now, of course, playing in midfield and playing well on a consistent basis is not that easy, and while the Liverpool star has done well in that role, we must give him more time to properly understand that position.
