Speaking to Football London, Japhet Tanganga has been heaping praise upon Tottenham teenager Dane Scarlett.

The young striker has been highlighted as the next big thing at Spurs, being handed his debut for the London club at the age of just 16.

Jose Mourinho always championed Scarlett, and just this week he stated that he’s going to be ‘phenomenal’.

It’s not just Mourinho who sees that in Scarlett, with Tanganga praising him this week, and he also says that Nuno Espirito Santo knows just how good he is.

What’s been said?

Tanganga had nothing but good things to say about Scarlett.

“He’s a great prospect, honestly. I think he’s not the only one but for his age, everyone’s a bit surprised at how talented he is,” said the defender.

“Honestly, he is phenomenal and everything that the old gaffer said is true.

“If everything goes well and he keeps working hard and remains focused and grounded then he will go to the top, because he’s a phenomenal player and I think all the players around him know that and are going to try to help him.

“The new boss, I think he knows that as well, you can see it from the glimpses of training that he’s a talent and he just needs the help to get him in the right direction. He’s a great prospect.”

Big season

Scarlett may have made his debut last term, but this season could be where he makes his name.

Tanganga says that Nuno rates the striker, and with Spurs in the Conference League this term, there’s every chance that he’ll be given more opportunities to shine.

The 17-year-old is seemingly rated very highly by everyone at Spurs, and we can only hope that he begins showing his talents on the biggest stages sooner rather than later.
