Sheffield United fans have their doubts over whether Chris Basham will join Newcastle United, as he is a Sunderland fan.
The Daily Mail suggest that Newcastle want Basham, with his contract at Bramall Lane now running down.
Blades supporters obviously don’t want to transfer to happen, as Basham has been so key for them this term.
And fans of the Yorkshire side think that a transfer to St. James’ Park is unlikely as Basham grew up supporting Newcastle’s bitter rivals, Sunderland.
If Basham was to move to Newcastle it would be a major blow to Chris Wilder’s side.
The centre-back has been a mainstay in Sheffield United’s team this season, and his departure would really hurt, as he has progressed up the leagues with them.
Basham could offer Newcastle more stability at the back though, with Steve Bruce apparently looking to add depth in that area.
Newcastle already are well stocked at centre-back, but Basham’s arrival would make competition for places fierce.
