Celtic snapped up St Mirren youngster Lewis Morgan on Friday.

St Mirren coach Jamie Langfield has told BBC Sport that he thinks Lewis Morgan could already make an impact in the Celtic side after completing his deal with the Bhoys.

Morgan, 21, came up through the ranks with Rangers before leaving Ibrox in 2013 in order to join St Mirren, in a move which has given him a platform to impress.

The playmaker hit 10 goals in 46 games last season with some eye-catching displays, and he has built on that this term with 13 goals in 26 appearances.

Morgan unsurprisingly attracted major interest off the back of his displays with the Scottish Championship side, and St Mirren were left in a difficult position given that his contract was set to expire this summer.

However, St Mirren struck a deal on Friday to sell Morgan to Celtic before loaning him back, meaning they still get a fee for his services whilst also retaining him for the rest of the campaign.

With St Mirren hoping to win promotion to the top flight this season, Morgan’s loan return is a huge boost, and one St Mirren coach has hailed the Celtic-bound youngster.

Jamie Langfield has told BBC Sport that he thinks Morgan would already get into the Celtic team, even though he will only start his Bhoys career in the summer.

Langfield added that Morgan is a ‘special talent’, and praised his ability to go on either his left or his right foot, suggesting he is a nightmare for full backs and goalkeepers.

“I think he would get into the Celtic team at present,” said Langfield. “I know the Championship is different, but I believe, with the way he is playing at this moment in time, he could play in the Celtic team.”

“He’s a special talent. He’s got the natural talent, but he also has a work ethic that’s second to none. He’s got absolutely everything. He can go left, he can go right. You still don’t know if he’s left or right footed, which is a nightmare for full-backs. It’s a nightmare for goalkeepers as well,” he added.
