West Ham United’s Marko Arnautovic has been on a fine run of form recently.

Franco Foda, designated German head coach of the Austrian national football team, gives a press conference on October 31, 2017 in Vienna, Austria.

Austrian national team boss Franco Foda spoke to reporters after his side’s comfortable 4-0 win over Luxembourg on Tuesday night, and offered high words of praise for West Ham forward Marko Arnautovic, after the 28-year-old notched his 10th goal in his last 15 games in all competitions, as quoted by Football.London.

Despite initially struggling to settle in east London following his £24 million switch from Stoke City in the summer, the Austrian has firmly established himself as one of David Moyes’ most important players, chipping in with seven goals and three assists in 23 Premier League outings.

The Hammers currently find themselves in all sorts of trouble, with just two points separating them from the drop zone, and they will need Arnautovic to be at his very best between now and the end of the season, if they are to stand any chance of retaining their Premier League status.

Foda spoke to reporters after the West Ham forward scored for Austria on Tuesday night, and highlighted the 28-year-old’s importance to his team, as quoted by Football.London:

“Marko is a kind-hearted person who now has a great deal of responsibility, especially in the game. He is also a very important part of our team, especially the way he appears in the games. We all knew his qualities in the game going forward, but he also develops in the defensive area, he supports the team.”

Next up for the Hammers is their vitally important clash with Southampton at the London Stadium on Saturday, and nothing less than a win will do, as they look to put some distance between themselves and the bottom three.
