Carlo Ancelotti has been speaking to Sky Sports about what it’s like working with Duncan Ferguson at Goodison Park.
The Italian was quizzed about how he feels towards the 49-year-old’s love of hugging him after Everton score, and also their professional relationship.
Ancelotti said: “He’s a funny guy, really serious, really professional. He has knowledge of his job, which is important for me.”
In our view, we love the fact that Ancelotti kept Ferguson around following his appointment on Merseyside.
Often, most managers tend to bring their own coaching staff with them, which makes sense as they’d be familiar with how they operate.
However, in keeping Ferguson by his side, Ancelotti has someone who holds a strong connection to the Toffees, and also somebody who understands the fanbase.
The Scot can offer him nuggets of inside information that somebody not strongly associated with Everton wouldn’t have been able to offer him.
It’s a bit of a mismatched duo, but whatever they’re doing seems to be working.
The Toffees have a great chance of qualifying for the Champions League this season, and currently sit sixth in the Premier League.
Hopefully one day, we’ll see Ferguson passionately hugging Ancelotti after Everton score at the Santiago Bernabeu, San Siro or the Camp Nou.
What a sight that would be for Everton fans to behold.
