Frank Lampard has hailed Anthony Gordon as a manager’s ‘dream’ having ‘really stood up’ and been counted for during a difficult spell for Everton, via quotes by the Liverpool Echo.

The Toffees come out of the international break with a trip to West Ham United on Sunday while sitting precariously above the relegation zone. Just three points detach the Goodison Park outfit from the bottom three, after only taking two wins in seven with Lampard so far.

Everton ended a five-game losing streak by beating Newcastle United 1-0 in their last top-flight fixture. However, any momentum from the Magpies result took a dive after exiting the FA Cup three days later in disappointing fashion with a 4-0 loss away to Crystal Palace.

Results on the road have proven near-on impossible for the Merseyside outfit this season under either Lampard or Rafa Benitez. They have only won three of 17 in all competitions, plus three draws. Their last Premier League away win also came in August at Brighton 2-0.

Gordon has started all 10 of Lampard’s fixtures as Everton manager since replacing Benitez in January. The England U21 ace also scored and assisted in the Blues’ 3-0 Premier League win over Leeds United in February. It took him to three goals and three assists this season.

The winger had rarely started, especially in the top-flight, during Benitez’s ill-fated six-and-a-half months in charge. He opened nine of a possible 19 league matches, as the Spaniard was concerned the 21-year-old could not last the full 90 minutes, per the Liverpool Echo.

Gordon did not see out a full Premier League match until November, while he has already played 90 minutes in four under Lampard with the Everton boss loving his efforts so far.

“Anthony’s started every game for me, I enjoy working with him,” Lampard said. “He’s a pleasure to work with for his attitude and quality. He’s a dream to work with on that level. Anthony’s really stood up and continues to do so.”
