Some Arsenal fans on Twitter are lauding Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for his performance this afternoon.

The Gunners blew away Tottenham Hotspur in the first North London derby of the season, winning 3-1 after a rip-roaring opening 45 minutes.

Arsenal raced into a 3-0 lead after only 35 minutes at the Emirates Stadium, with Aubameyang scoring his side’s second of the day.

The Gabon international latched on to a cut-back pass from Emile Smith Rowe – who opened the scoring – and scuffed his shot past Hugo Lloris.

Aubameyang only scored the one, but his movement was exceptional for the whole game and Spurs’ defence really struggled.

This was a reminder of how good the former Borussia Dortmund player can be on his day, having had quite a poor last 12 months or so by his own sky-high standards.

Here’s how some Arsenal fans reacted to his performance:

Aubameyang now has 66 Premier League goals in 119 outings for the Emirates Stadium outfit.

But to put into perspective how devastating he was for his first two-and-half-year at Arsenal, he reached the 50-goal mark in this competition in July of 2020.

In other words, he is averaging about one Premier League goal per month since then, which underlines his problems over the past year or so.

But as mentioned, this was a big reminder over how lethal he can be and Mikel Arteta will want to see much more of it from here on in.
