Kevin Campbell has described Arsenal midfielder Dani Ceballos as a ‘bomb’ following his performance against Villarreal on Thursday.

Ceballos was named in Arsenal’s first XI for the Europa League semi final.

But the Spain international, on loan from Real Madrid, got sent off early in the second half after picking up a second yellow card.

His first booking was for fouling Tottenham loanee Juan Foyth, who spent most of the first half ghosting past him from defence.

And the former Gunners hitman has intimated that the 24-year-old is a major liability.

Here’s what Campbell told the Same Old Arsenal podcast: “No excuses. He’s a bomb. He’s a time bomb and he’s not really cut it at the football club. Let’s have it right. Let’s have it right. We had Foyth who’s from Spurs running at him constantly. They were targetting Ceballos most of the time.”

It looks like Arsenal fans won’t have to tolerate Ceballos much longer.

That’s because Fabrizio Romano reported on Friday that the Emirates Stadium club won’t be signing the £22 million-rated [La Razon] star on a permanent basis.

This isn’t bad news really.

As Campbell pointed out, Ceballos hasn’t really cut it in North London and no Arsenal fan will be devastated to hear he isn’t sticking around on a permanent basis.

That figure, £22 million, is a pretty decent chunk of money and Arteta and Edu will feel it would be better spent elsewhere.
