Celtic striker Moussa Dembele was on the scoresheet yet again as France Under-21’s hammered Northern Ireland 3-0 on Tuesday evening.

Whilst France’s senior side beat the Netherlands 1-0 on Monday and Northern Ireland’s senior side lost 2-0 to Germany on Tuesday evening, their Under-21 sides met at Windsor Park in the qualifying for next summer’s Under-21 European Championships.

With no wins in their previous nine qualifying games, Jim Magilton’s Northern Ireland were always going to be underdogs, and they never really stood much of a chance against a strong French side.

Paris Saint-Germain prospect Jean-Kevin Augustin showed his quality by scoring twice in the first half, handing France a 2-0 lead.

Whilst France dominating the game, they didn’t further their lead until the 89th minute as Celtic hero Moussa Dembele scored a fine goal to make it 3-0.

Dembele, 20, has become a hero at Celtic Park since joining the club from Fulham over the summer, as his total stands at 12 goals in 17 games, including a hat-trick in the Old Firm derby against Rangers and a brace in the Champions League clash with Manchester City.

After Dembele’s latest goalscoring success – which came days after he scored his first goal for the French Under-21’s against Georgia – Celtic fans took to Twitter to rave about their striker.

Some wondered how long it will be until Dembele wins a call-up to the French senior side, calling him ‘a bit special’ as his blistering goalscoring form continues.

Others joked that Southampton will be looking to sign him having raided Celtic for Victor Wanyama, Fraser Forster and Virgil van Dijk recent years, but noted that his value will be increasing by the week if he keeps on scoring.
