Some Liverpool fans on Twitter aren’t crazy about a report from The Echo.
The regional publication reported on Wednesday that Jurgen Klopp is set to leave Loris Karius out of his Champions League squad for the upcoming group-stage campaign.
Klopp is forced to snub one senior player for the purpose of promoting Harvey Elliott, who has been a revelation in Liverpool’s first three Premier League games of the season.
And according to The Echo, the German goalkeeper, who failed to get a summer move away from Anfield, is set to be axed.
It goes without saying that Karius isn’t Mr Popular among fans of the Merseyside club because his last appearance was that Champions League final defeat by Real Madrid, where Klopp’s side lost by two goals and he wound up making two absolute howlers.
Having said that, some Liverpool fans would prefer to see him included over Spanish goalkeeper Adrian, who also has some high-profile errors under his belt.
Here’s what the supporters are saying on Twitter:
Doesn’t matter
Whether it’s Karius or Adrian, it’s important to note that it probably doesn’t matter all too much.
Alisson is more than likely going to play every Champions League game for Liverpool this season and even when he doesn’t, Caoimhin Kelleher may well be Klopp’s second-choice option.
Kelleher had a couple of fine performances in this competition last season and it’s clear that long term, he’s going to replace Adrian as number two, if he hasn’t already.
