Hertha Berlin boss Pal Dardai has been defending talented Liverpool youngster Allan who is currently on loan in the German capital.

The Brazilian was to blame for the second of Bayern Munich’s three goals in a 3-0 win against Hertha in the Bundesliga last weekend.

He dawdled on the ball in his own area, was dispossessed, and then Thiago Alcantara stuck his chance away.

But the Hungarian coach has refused to be overly critical of the player. He is quoted by Tribal Football as having this to say about Allan:

“Especially at a stage in the game, where we had stabilized, this was unnecessary. He has to learn from this.

“But much bigger players have made even worse errors. Actually he played quite well.

“After the game, he was knocked down, the players have built him up again in the dressing room. He’s a good boy, teachable and willing.”

Liverpool snapped up the young midfielder, full name Allan Rodrigues de Souza, last summer from Brazilian side Internacional and he immediately began training with the first-team at Melwood.

Unfortunately, the teenager is not yet eligible for a work permit so was sent out on loan to the Finnish outfit Seinajoen Jalkapallokerho, or SJK for short, last September.

He had a productive time playing in the Veikkausliga, Finland’s top-flight, and SJK were crowned champions for the first time in their history.

The 19-year-old then joined Belgian side Sint-Truiden until the end of the season before being loaned to the Bundesliga side in the summer.

Allan was making his Hertha debut in the game and the Liverpool player will be hopeful that his poor mistake doesn’t end his progress in Berlin.
