Watford’s Dodi Lukebakio is a wanted man as Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin express interest.
The Belgian forward spent last season on loan at Fortuna Dusseldorf where he was a revelation. Lukebakio scored 14 goals and provided five assists in all competitions last season and his performances have caught the eye of another Bundesliga side in Hertha.
The report reveals that the German outfit are considering the Watford man as well as Arsenal’s Reiss Nelson who spent an impressive loan spell at Hoggenheim last season. Lukebakio would be an incredible addition to Hertha’s squad but should Watford let him leave before giving him a proper chance?
The Hornets have settled in brilliantly under Javi Gracia but there is a lot of room for improvement in their attack. Troy Deeney, Gerard Deulofeu and Roberto Pereyra have cemented themselves as regulars in the first team but the likes of Ken Sema, Isaac Success and Andre Gray to an extent have been underwhelming at times.
A hugely versatile player, Lukebakio has the ability to play anywhere across the front three and with Watford’s lack of squad depth, he could well prove to be an incredible option. The 21-year-old possesses electric pace and is incredibly strong on his runs.
His ability to brush off defenders and get himself into dangerous areas is a rare trait for someone of his age and with Gracia’s guidance, he could reach new heights next season. Watford should make it a point to give Lukebakio a good run in the Premier League despite the temptation of cashing in on him this summer.
