The West Ham United striker showed a different side to his game against Crystal Palace.
Javier Hernandez has endured a frustrating time at West Ham United of late and has been linked with a move away from the club, but the striker produced an encouraging performance in the 1-1 draw at home to Crystal Palace last night.
Hernandez certainly isn’t suited to West Ham’s current style and matters haven’t exactly gone to plan since his move to the club as he has managed to score just five times this season.
There have been suggestions that Hernandez could leave West Ham, with Besiktas amongst the clubs monitoring his situation, as reported by goal.
However, if Hernandez is willing to adapt to West Ham’s demands then the Mexican could still have a significant part to play for David Moyes’ side.
Against Palace Hernandez worked extremely hard as he frequently closed down opponents and chased after the ball.
The 29-year-old relishes being a penalty box poacher and linking up with another forward, but that luxury hasn’t been afforded to him of late, especially with Andy Carroll out injured.
If Hernandez does remain at West Ham beyond the closure of the transfer window then there is still a chance of his stay at the London Stadium being a successful one, should he be willing to accept that the team will not always play to his strengths.
