Former Inter Milan forward comments on tough Champions League draw.
Inter Milan are back in the Champions League for the first time in six years and landed one of the toughest draws imaginable.
Placed in the dreaded pot four, Inter were always at risk of receiving a scary draw, and UEFA did not disappoint.
Inter were grouped with Barcelona, Tottenham Hotspur, and PSV Eindhoven.
Former Inter striker Hernan Crespo, who also played for Chelsea, was quoted by Tuttomercatoweb.
Crespo said: “Barcelona evokes good memories but to play against them it’s never easy: after many years of not going to the Champions League it’s difficult, but it’s interesting to be able to play big challenges.
“Tottenham starts to have experience, last year they overcame Real Madrid.
“We try not to lose points with PSV and then try to make the impact, but Inter is crazy, San Siro will be a show, people are hungry for this show so there will be a big boost.”
The 2010 Champions League winners last faced Tottenham while defending the trophy and it was in these matches where Gareth Bale enjoyed his breakout.
Crespo’s comments about Tottenham show the high regard in which they are held, with their impressive performances last season getting noticed.
If Spurs can come through this group then their reputation will be even further enhanced.
