Tottenham Hotspur spent £8 million on the 19-year-old last month.
Speaking to Four Four Two, Hermes Desio has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur new boy Juan Foyth won’t be happy with a big-part role with the Premier League side, adding that “nothing will stop him” from earning regular football.
Tottenham pulled off quite a coup last month by signing the 19-year-old in an £8 million deal from Estudiantes in Argentina.
In doing so, Spurs are thought to have beaten off competition from Paris Saint-Germain in order to secure his signature
The teenage centre-back is a big talent and Desio knows full well how good he can be, havivng worked as Estudiantes’ youth coordinator, before taking up the same role with Argentina.
And the 47-year-old says that Foyth will be forthcoming in his requests about regular football to manager Mauricio Pochettino, adding that he can handle the pressure of playing for such a big club.
“Juan has the ability to arrive there and play,” Desio tells Four FourTwo. “He is a player who will ask for that; he will want to play and the responsibility will not weigh on him at all. This is perhaps one of his strongest characteristics.
“His mentality will be to go there with the firm idea of playing – the pressure of the stadium, the people or the supporters won’t enter his thoughts. Nothing will stop him, and his desire to play so much will mean he will feel at ease.”
Initially, Foyth may be disappointed if he has designs on making an instant impact in Spurs’ senior set-up.
This is because the Lilywhites spent £42 million on Davinson Sanchez, who has slotted in alongside the formidable Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld in central defence and, simply put, there isn’t room for him in the first XI at the moment.
However, he will have known that by the time he signed which might suggest that he is willing to work hard and fight for his place.
