Rangers have struggled to keep pace with the league leaders so far this term, and they must look to add quality if they are to compete with their rivals.

Rangers embarked upon their 2016/17 campaign under the heavy weight of high expectation bestowed upon them by their loyal, fanatic fanbase.
The early part of the season has not played out quite how Mark Warburton, the players or the fans would have expected, however, and they currently sit in seventh position in the Scottish Premiership table.
Despite the season being very much on its’ infancy, it is quite clear that Rangers need to strengthen their side if they are to challenge the likes of Celtic, Aberdeen and Hearts above them in the table.
Free agent Emmanuel Adebayor could be a fantastic signing for Rangers.
He possesses undoubted quality, and has the ability to play to a level that could help salvage the Gers’ season.
On his day, the 32-year-old Togolese was every defender’s worst nightmare.

Powerful in the air and on the ground, his presence enables his side to vary their play anywhere from a direct style to something more intricate in and around the box.
He is also wonderfully gifted in a technical sense, however, and this combined with his aerial ability and raw power is what makes him so hard to play against.
The Glasgow giants have managed just eight goals in seven league outings, while fierce rivals Celtic have scored 23 in six.
The final third must surely be an area of the pitch that Warburton is looking to improve, and Adebayor could be the perfect target.
He scored 97 league goals in 242 outings during spells with four separate Premier League clubs, and a move to Scotland would surely see him improve further still on that tally, despite his advancing years.

One major sticking point to any kind of potential move could be Adebayor’s wage demands, which have been extortionate to say the least over the years.
He is at an age now, however, where he will surely want to be playing regularly, and whilst Rangers could not offer him anything near the £100,000 he was reportedly being paid at Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace, there is surely room for a compromise to be made.
The fact that he is available on a free transfer in itself should free up extra funds for wages, should the Rangers hierarchy decide to pursue a move for the former Arsenal and Manchester City striker.
Although Adebayor has never been the easiest of players to manage, and a move for him could be construed as risky, the potential positive impact that he could bring to the club would surely make it a risk worth taking.
