Leeds United have been linked with a move for Swansea City forward Marvin Emnes.
According to reports in the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds United are considering making a move for Swansea City striker Marvin Emnes, and the forward’s past comments about Monk suggest he would be excited to link back up with his former manager.
Emnes was at Swansea while Monk was in charge at the Liberty Stadium, and the pair had a good relationship.
Emnes had been sent out on loan by Brendan Rodgers, but when he returned to Swansea, Monk was quick to make the forward feel part of the team.
“He’s [Monk] been good to me from day one,” Emnes said back in 2014 to BBC Sport, “from the first day I met him and I came to the club.
“He’s been talking to me a lot. It was something different for the players. He [Monk] speaks a lot to the players. He explains a lot. What he wants from you and how he wants you to play. I think that helps every player a lot.”
Emnes has barely featured for Swansea in recent seasons, with the Dutch striker playing just twice in the Premier League last term.
The 28-year-old has just a year left on his contract at Swansea, meaning that a move this summer could suit all parties.
If Emnes did join Leeds he would become the second player that Monk has signed from Swansea since taking charge at Elland Road.
Leeds have also signed Kyle Bartley on a season long-loan from the Welsh club, as Monk begins to assemble a squad which he feels will be capable of challenging for the top six next term.
