Tottenham Hotspur are said to be tracking West Bromwich Albion striker Jay Rodriguez.

According to the Independent, Tottenham Hotspur are considering moving for West Bromwich Albion forward Jay Rodriguez, and that is hardly surprising, given how highly Mauricio Pochettino rates him.

Pochettino and Rodriguez worked together at Southampton earlier in their respective careers, when the forward enjoyed the best run of form of his career.

Rodriguez was pushing for an England call-up, before injury struck and halted his progress.

And Pochettino was a major fan of the 28-year-old, when they were working together.

“He is a player that ever since I arrived has been really confident and playing basically all the games,” he said to EuroSport.

“I am just really happy with him and all my players because they showed a great capacity to adapt to this new brand of football I want to play. He is a player that has a great dynamism, great technical quality.

“He is obsessed by football, lives for football, has a great mentality and is always available. The sky is the limit for him. I don’t see a roof – there is no limit.”

Rodriguez has arguably not quite lived up to that sort of billing from Pochettino, as injury has struck to curtail his development.

However, he has still proved himself to be a useful forward at whatever club he has played for.

Rodriguez has scored 11 goals for West Brom this season, and is likely to move on following their impending relegation.

If Spurs were to sign Rodriguez he would be used as a reserve option for Harry Kane up-front.
