Newcastle United are said to be set to take Steve Bruce to St. James’ Park following his resignation at Sheffield Wednesday.

Newcastle United fans are up in arms about the potential appointment of Steve Bruce, but Alan Shearer has spoke very positively of the experienced manager before.
Bruce has resigned from his post at Sheffield Wednesday and appears to be on the verge of heading to Newcastle any day soon.
There is a feeling among supporters that Bruce is a huge step down from Rafael Benitez, and their anger has been clearly expressed on social media.
Shearer is yet to speak about Bruce’s seemingly impending arrival at Newcastle.
However, the Magpies legend is clearly a fan of the former Aston Villa and Hull City boss as he backed him for the England job in 2016.
“I get that there is not a huge list of suitable English candidates. But there are people out there who should be considered and spoken to,” Shearer said to the Swindon Advertiser.
“Why wouldn’t they give it to Steve Bruce? He would be my pick. Bruce has worked in English football all his life.

“He knows the game inside out and is widely respected. He has played at the highest level with Manchester United.”
Shearer may still feel that Bruce isn’t the right man for Newcastle, of course, but he clearly does think that the 58-year-old does have quality as a manager.
The Sun have suggested that Newcastle will be paying £4 million in compensation to appoint Bruce.
