Fabrizio Romano has reported on Twitter that Tottenham Hotspur left-back Sergio Reguilon is set to leave for Atletico Madrid in the final days of the summer transfer window.

The well-known and well-respected journalist has claimed that Tottenham and Atletico have reached a full agreement over a loan deal for the former Real Madrid left-back.

Romano has added that the £68,000-a-week (SalaySport) Spain international left-back will move to Atletico on loan for this season.

The former La Liga champions will have no buy option.

Romano has stated that Reguilon will travel to Spain on Monday to complete his medical test and then put pen to paper.

Sensible transfer

In our view, Sergio Reguilon leaving Tottenham Hotspur for Atletico Madrid on a loan deal in the summer transfer window is sensible.

The left-back was not going to get much playing time at Tottenham, and there was no point in him staying at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this season.

Atletico are one of the biggest clubs in Spain, and will challenge for the La Liga title this season as well as compete in the UEFA Champions League.
