Frederic Guilbert has posted on Twitter ‘here we go again for the longest week of the year’ as the axed Aston Villa star hints at leaving the club ahead of transfer deadline day.
The 27-year-old was left out of Steven Gerrard’s plans for most of pre-season and he hasn’t featured during one single matchday squad for the new campaign.
Guilbert played Villa’s opening pre-season game in Australia, but he only earned 45 minutes for Gerrard down under and he hasn’t been since in senior colours.

For the past two seasons, he has been out on-loan in France, and given what Gerrard thinks of the player, then it is obvious that his career lies elsewhere.
It has been suggested that Villa have slashed their asking price for the right-back, and ahead of Thursday’s deadline, he has been training with the reserves.
Will Guilbert get the move that he desires? Well, given that he has been in this situation before, going by his Twitter comments, it seems as though he knows there is a long week ahead and it might just be a scramble to see him leave before Thursday’s deadline.
“Here we go again for the longest week of the year,” said Guilbert.
GUILBERT DESERVED BETTER TREATMENT
At the rate Gerrard is going, he will be out of the Villa exit door before Guilbert because the fans simply aren’t having him as their manager following his side’s 1-0 defeat to West Ham United on Sunday.
Regardless of whether Guilbert is good enough or not, one thing is for sure, he deserved better treatment than the one he has received in recent weeks.
The same could be said for Anwar El Ghazi, a player that helped Villa earn promotion, but another axed star that is also training with the kids.
Either way, with Gerrard under serious pressure it’s going to be interesting to see how much money Villa splash in regards to incomings during these coming days and who heads for the exit door.
