Jordan Henderson posted on Instagram ‘keep smiling’ as the Liverpool midfielder looks to return to fitness after suffering a thigh problem with England during the international break.
Andy Robertson responded to his Liverpool captain’s post by stating: ‘Here he is’ added with the two eyes emoji, which hopefully, from the perspective of the fans, hints at him closing in on a return.
It is saying something that Henderson’s current status is the least of Jurgen Klopp’s worries because he has had to deal with his two main centre-backs suffering long-term injuries.
And even though the champions of England perhaps produced their performance of the season over the weekend, whilst having over half of their first-team missing, they will be well aware that there is still a long way to go and tougher tests lie ahead.
Pound for pound, even with injuries, Liverpool can match and better most teams, and whilst their defence has suffered, they aren’t far away from having their strongest possible midfield available to them.
One of them would be there vocal powerhouse, who will be hoping he is ready to take out everything before him as the Reds prepare for the busiest and one of the toughest periods of the season.
A player like Henderson, whose leadership skills alone can push Liverpool over the finishing line, will be needed because several tests and bumps on the road will be presented to the Merseyside giants during these coming weeks.
But, at this moment, with the red hot Jota at their disposal, Liverpool have their foot on the accelerator and it’s going to take something special to stop either Jota, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and the returning Mo Salah from finding the back of the net.
