Rangers have hired Giovanni van Bronckhorst as Steven Gerrard’s replacement.
The Ibrox side have needed a new manager for the past week after Gerrard joined Aston Villa in the Premier League.
Van Bronckhorst was the name on every Rangers fans’ lips long before he was ever appointed.
That’s because the 46-year-old already has close ties to Ibrox after enjoying a successful playing career in Glasgow.
The man himself reacted to the move on Twitter and Instagram shortly after it was confirmed.
Here’s how some fans of the Scottish Premiership champions have reacted to his first message as Gers boss.
Patience
Hibernian in the League Cup will be his first game as Rangers manager.
Hampden Park plays host to a massive semi-final and with Celtic, their Old Firm rivals, in the other last-four clash, a stunning final may well be on the cards.
But Van Bronckhorst won’t be looking past Hibs for now and, honestly, it would be dangerous too.
The light Blues will still be massive favourites to move into the final, but Van Bronckhorst hasn’t even taken a training session as of yet.
In other words, it’ll take time for the Dutchman to implement his ideas at Rangers and immediate results are far from guaranteed.
