Thierry Henry told Sky Sports that Liverpool started ‘conceding cheap goals’ and they were ‘not fighting for each other’ after they mathematically won the Premier League title in 2020.

It has been some journey for Liverpool during these past 12 months because they have ended their 30-year title drought, as well as see their team collapse in recent months after being crowned champions.

Whilst some will point towards their injuries as a source of their problems during this campaign, they were still conceding a high number of goals, for their standards, when football restarted back in June.

Arsenal legend Henry touched upon what he noticed about Liverpool when they were confirmed as champions on June 25.

“Their season, for me, started last year when they mathematically won it,” said Henry. “They started to drop their standards with the way they finished the season.

“Have a look. Conceding cheap goals. Not fighting for each other. But I have all the confidence in the world that Klopp will rectify that because I am a big fan of the manager.

“I have been in that situation. I don’t think it’s a matter of hunger. Nobody likes to lose. Nobody likes to lose six games at home when you are used to winning games.”

Well, in recent weeks, with Fabinho going back into midfield, Liverpool have started to pick up and they are looking much stronger, both going forward and at the back.

It shouldn’t be a surprise because there is more balance to the team, with Ozan Kabak and Nat Phillips building a strong partnership and Fabinho doing what he does best in the middle of the park.
