Former player and current pundit Thierry Henry says Liverpool attacker Sadio Mane could be a Premier League Player of the Year contender come the end of the season, he told Sky Sports in the studio at around 19:30 ahead of the Reds’ game against Chelsea on Friday night.
Mane joined the Reds from Southampton in the summer and has made an immedate impact at Anfield, scoring two goals in four league matches including a fabulous effort in the 4-3 win at Arsenal.
The Senegal international missed the 2-0 defeat at Burnley, meaning he has yet to taste defeat in Liverpool colours despite Jurgen Klopp’s side’s testing start to the Premier League season.
Mane can score goals, provide assists, track back and defend while working hard for the team, prompting Henry to suggest he could be a potential Player of the Year contender come the end of the season.
“Mane could be the Premier League’s Player of the Year. He does everything with a purpose, he uses his brain. People forget about that, it’s not only running fast, he has control of the ball when he runs and he will give you an assist, he will give you some goals,” Henry told Sky Sports.
“He looks like a Liverpool plyer, the fans will love him. I think at the end of the season he won’t be far from being one of the best players of the season.”

The former Red Bulls Salzburg ace is quickly becoming a fan favourite at Liverpool, not just because of his quality with the ball but also his willingness to work hard out of possession.
He looks like a Klopp player in the way he enjoys pressing defenders, offering movement in the final third and linking up with right-back Nathaniel Clyne to devastating effect out wide.
Mane had another solid showing on Friay night as Livepool secured an impressive 2-1 win at Stamford Bridge.
