On-loan Everton hitman Henry Onyekuru has told Het Laatste Nieuws that he wants to cut short his Anderlecht stint and go back to Goodison Park in January.

The 20-year-old striker joined Everton in a £7 million summer move but was loaned to Anderlecht immediately.

And the Nigeria international seems to be going from strength to strength in Belgium, scoring a brace on Friday to make it six goals in six starts.

In contrast, the Toffees are in dire need of another striking option after scoring just four Premier League goals in seven games this season.

Nigerian outlet 90 Minutes Goal reported this week that Onyekuru was set to be called from his loan, and the young marksman confirmed in an interview with Het Laatste Nieuws on Friday night that he wants that to materialise.

He said: “Everton are happy about my development. I’m expecting something. I’m hoping to go to Everton in January.”

It remains to be seen whether Everton are permitted to recall the young hitman, whose loan officially ends in June.
