Celtic have been heavily linked with Henry Onyekuru in recent times, and he shone again in Eupen’s latest game.

One of the potential concerns for Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers this summer is what to do if the Hoops are unable to extend Patrick Roberts’ deal from Manchester City.

According to the Evening Times, neither Rodgers or Roberts have shut the door on the deal being extended in some capacity, but the Bhoys would be foolish not to prepare for City to block any further move.

One player that has been heavily linked with a switch to Parkhead in recent times is Henry Onyekuru. The Daily Record reported in February that Celtic had made bids for the Eupen starlet during the January transfer window and that Onyekuru had been told that he can move on in the summer.

Though he is predominantly a striker, Onyekuru can also play out on the wing, so his arrival if Celtic were able to complete a deal would help fill the void that may be left behind by Roberts.

And judging by his latest performance for the Belgian top flight side, he would be an excellent addition to Rodgers’ squad.

Eupen were facing Roeselare and 2-0 down at the break, but Onyekuru scored twice to earn his side a draw to end their run of two games without a win.

The brace has taken the teenager’s tally for the season to 14 goals, and that kind of return should give Rodgers plenty of hope that if they fail to keep Roberts, they could find a replacement capable of making a big impact next season.
