Everton forward Henry Onyekuru is stepping up his return from injury.
There hasn’t been a lot for Everton fans to smile about of late, with performances in 2018 leaving manager Sam Allardyce under increasing pressure.
Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Burnley was a sixth straight away loss, and speculation is already linking Allardyce with a summer exit, despite only arriving as Ronald Koeman’s replacement in November.
Fans are furious with Allardyce’s brand of football and approach so far, with results giving them absolutely nothing to shout about right now.
However, those fans have been given something to look forward to, as forward Henry Onyekuru has taken to Twitter to offer an update on his situation.
Onyekuru, 20, joined Everton in a £7million deal (BBC Sport) from KAS Eupen last summer, having hit 24 goals in 41 games last season – but given that he was ineligible for a work permit, he was immediately sent out on loan to Anderlecht.
The Nigerian forward again caught the eye in Belgium, hitting 10 goals in 28 games for Anderlecht, before suffering knee ligament damage to rule him out for the rest of the season.
Onyekuru was sent back to Everton to begin his rehabilitation, and the forward offered an update on that by posting a video on Twitter over the weekend.
Onyekuru showed himself running again as he builds up to his return this summer, thanking fans for their messages of support – and those fans will hope to see him make a huge impact next season given that he possesses major pace and a real goal threat; factors Everton have lacked at times this season.
