£7m striker Henry Onyekuru might never play a Premier League game for Everton thanks to work permit issues, meaning he could stay in Turkey.
Henry Onyekuru has confirmed that Galatasaray are hoping to sign him from Everton this summer with Fotomac claiming that the Turkish giants are prepared to double his wages.
Everton fought off competition from clubs all over Europe to sign one of Africa’s most promising youngsters in 2017, paying £7 million to bring the Nigerian striker to Goodison Park after a prolific season in Belgium with KAS Eupen (BBC).
Thanks to work permit problems, however, Onyekuru has not been allowed to make his debut for Everton. Instead, he has spent the last two seasons out on loan at Anderlecht and Galatasaray.
And with confusion still surrounding his eligibility to play Premier League football, Gala are hoping to take advantage by signing the 21-year-old on a permanent basis. Onyekuru has scored 15 goals this season for the Istanbul outfit.
“For now, I am still a player of Everton. I want to stay focused to finish the season on a good note, before sitting down with Everton and my agent to discuss where my future lies,” he told Football Live on Wednesday.
“It is true, Galatasaray wants me to stay. That decision rests on to my agent.”
Fotomac claims that Onyekuru is currently being paid around £20,000-a-week by Everton but Galatasaray are willing to offer him a £40,000-a-week deal to convince the youngster to stay in Turkey.
With Galatasaray currently top of the Super Lig table, they could offer Onyekuru Champions League football too.
