Mkhitaryan was among the starters, but it was Juan Mata and substitute Marouane Fellaini who scored the important goals.
The Armenian has established himself as a key player during United’s run, and will be hoping to make a big contribution when the Red Devils face Liverpool this weekend.
He is certainly making up for lost time after spending the first part of the campaign on the sidelines.
That match could turn out to be a warm up for the EFL Cup Final at Wembley later this season, with Liverpool set to face Southampton in the other semi-final first leg on Wednesday evening.
