Arsenal-owned Henrikh Mkhitaryan has suggested that he wants to stay at AS Roma, as quoted on Gianlucadimarzio.com.

Mkhitaryan, who can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger, joined Roma on a season-long loan deal from Arsenal in the summer of 2019.

The Armenia international is scheduled to return to his parent club Arsenal at the end of the season.

However, the 31-year-old former Manchester United player has said that he would like to stay at Roma next season.

Gianlucadimarzio.com quotes Mkhitaryan as saying: “I felt comfortable right away, both with the team and the city, it would be nice to stay.

“The main objective is to qualify for the Champions League and win some titles.”

Mkhitaryan added: “I don’t have many years left and I want to leave a positive memory, maybe tied to a title or something good for the team.

“Italian football is underrated, it has some unique qualities and it’s interesting playing here. It’s not like twenty years ago but it’s improving and I’m happy to play here.”

Stats

According to WhoScored, Mkhitaryan has made eight starts and five substitute appearances in Serie A for Roma so far this season, scoring six goals and providing three assists in the process.

The attacker has had injury problems during his loan spell in Italy, but when he has played, he has done well.

Football in England and Italy is suspended at the moment due to the global health crisis.

Back to Arsenal?

Unai Emery was in charge of Arsenal when the decision was made to send Mkhitaryan out on loan to Roma.

Mikel Arteta is the head of the Gunners now, and he could well decide to given the Armenia international another chance.
