Aston Villa boss Dean Smith is reportedly set to shift a number of his fringe players.

According to the Telegraph, new Aston Villa boss Dean Smith is planning a January clear out.
Smith wants to cut Villa’s squad, with a number of their fringe players set to be put up for sale.
And that could mean that Henri Lansbury’s future at Villa is in serious doubt.
Many Villa fans have predicted that Lansbury could play a key role under Smith.
However, if Smith is wanting to cut his squad early, then Lansbury could be one of the first to face the chop.

The central midfielder has only played once all season, and is unlikely to be match sharp right now.
With Villa looking to trim the numbers before January, that could only give Lansbury a matter a weeks to impress.
And, considering he is unlikely to be in any condition to show his best, it may be that Smith’s appointment doesn’t give Lansbury the reprieve that many predicted it would.
