The Nottingham Forest midfielder played at Watford when Rangers boss Mark Warburton was there, could he come to Ibrox?
Rangers have seemingly agreed to terminate the contract of Joey Barton by mutual consent. Signed in the summer from Burnley on a free transfer the controversial midfielder got into a training ground bust-up with Andy Halliday and that ultimately led to his demise in Glasgow.
Rangers will need to consider other central midfield options, either in January or next summer. One man who should be high on Mark Warburton’s list is Nottingham Forest midfielder Henri Lansbury.
Nottingham Forest’s Henri Lansbury shoots
The former England under-21 international, who was at Watford on loan whilst Rangers boss Warburton worked at the club, is out of contract in the summer and with Forest currently in the midst of a takeover a renewal hardly seems in the pipelines.
Lansbury is therefore free to talk to other clubs in January and Rangers should be at the front of the queue.

Leaving Forest would be tough for Lansbury. That said, the chance to play for Warburton at a club the size of Rangers would be huge for the midfielder.
Henri Lansbury – Watford
Nottingham Forest, as big a club as they are, cannot offer Lansbury the challenge of battling for a title or indeed potential European football quite like a career at Ibrox can.
On a free transfer next summer, or cut-price in the winter, bringing Lansbury to Glasgow could be a masterstroke from Rangers boss Mark Warburton.
