Aston Villa’s current situation is no laughing matter, however.
Henri Lansbury celebrates with teammates
During a light-hearted interview with Aston Villa’s official YouTube channel, Henri Lansbury named the two players in the squad who he considers to be the funniest.
The 26-year-old made the switch to Villa Park from Nottingham Forest in January, for a fee believed to be in the region of £2.75 million, but has so far failed to live up to what was expected of him.
Steve Bruce’s men have endured a woeful campaign so far this term, and currently sit in 15th position in the Championship table, and if anything, their results and performances have worsened since the arrival of the former Arsenal and Forest man.
Lansbury was in good spirits, however, when speaking to the club’s official YouTube channel, and responded to a question asking him which teammates he considered to be the funniest:
Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish
“Probably Jack (Grealish) and Gards (Gary Gardner). The way they bounce off each other, being Brummie lads, it’s quite funny to see.”
Now is not the time for laughing and joking at Villa Park though, with the current plight the Villa players currently find themselves in.
17 points separates them and sixth placed Sheffield Wednesday, and that is nowhere near good enough for a club who have spent so heavily over the past six months.
Next season will be the time for the joking to stop, and serious work needs to begin in order for Aston Villa to return to the top flight.
