Dean Smith is set to hold an intra-squad friendly at Aston Villa this week, and Henri Lansbury is under pressure to catch the eye.

Dean Smith may have put Henri Lansbury in a make or break situation, by testing him in a behind-closed-doors friendly match for Aston Villa this week.

The Express and Star have reported that Smith has organised the second intra-squad friendly during his time in charge at Villa, as he looks to assess the quality of the squad he has available.

And Lansbury will surely have to impress if he wants to stay at Villa beyond the January transfer window.

Lansbury was overlooked by Steve Bruce in the early part of the season, and when Smith arrived there was a thought he could be offered more chances.

However, he has not been seen in a Villa shirt since Smith took over, with his future now seriously in doubt.

And Lansbury will be under more pressure than most to impress in the training game, as if he fails to catch the eye of Smith, then his days at Villa Park look numbered.
