Jeff Hendrick has reiterated Burnley’s desire to see Sean Dyche stay at Turf Moor despite being linked with the Everton job.
Burnley midfielder Jeff Hendrick has told Sky Sports that Sean Dyche must make up his own mind on his future as he continues to be linked with the vacant Everton job.
Everton remain on the lookout for a new manager after deciding to sack Ronald Koeman last month, after the club had slipped into the relegation zone following a 5-2 defeat by Arsenal.
Interim boss David Unsworth finally took the Toffees out of the bottom three, with a last-gasp win over Watford on Sunday following three straight defeats under the Everton icon to Chelsea, Leicester and Lyon.
Ireland international Hendrick, who was signed by Dyche in the summer of 2016 from Derby County, is desperate for his manager to stay at Turf Moor but stated that the former Watford boss must decide for himself.
“We have got on well with him. We work hard every day. We enjoy going into training. That is the environment he has created there,” Hendrick said.
“But at the end of the day it is his decision. I am sure he has aspirations to go high in the game. He does talk about it himself and he is still a young manager. Obviously we would love to have him still at Burnley but it is his decision.”
Bookmakers Paddy Power value Dyche at becoming Koeman’s successor at odds of 7/1, third favourite behind Sam Allardyce and Unsworth, whose price has been cut as short as 4/9.
It remains to be seen if the Toffees will have installed a new manager at Goodison Park before their next fixture after the international break, as they face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on November 18.
