Jordan Henderson has revealed that Liverpool teammate Diogo Jota could potentially be available to face Chelsea in Sunday’s Carbao Cup final at Wembley.
Liverpool take on Thomas Tuchel’s side as the Reds go in search of a first piece of silverware this season.
There’s already bad news for Jurgen Klopp’s outfit because Roberto Firmino is absent and with Jota being on the sidelines in recent weeks too, he is considered a major doubt.
However, Henderson has revealed this afternoon that the former Wolverhampton Wanderers could potentially return for the Anfield outfit against Chelsea.
He told a press conference, via Liverpool’s official YouTube: “Two big players – it looks like Bobby is struggling which is a blow. I think Jota still might have a chance. That will be a big bonus. Two big players so hopefully one of them will be available.”
Understatement
Henderson said a ‘big bonus’ but honestly that’s a massive understatement.
The 25-year-old is an enormous player for Liverpool and basically carried the Reds through their most difficult period of the season, when Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane were absent at the Africa Cup of Nations.
With 17 goals for Klopp’s side across all competitions, and Firmino being sidelined, there’s no telling what kind of boost it would be for the Merseysiders if their Portuguese attacker is available against Thomas Tuchel’s troops.
