Leeds United and Aston Villa reportedly want to sign Dean Henderson from Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
Dean Henderson is a player in demand, with Leeds United, Aston Villa and Norwich City among the clubs reportedly interested in the Manchester United goalkeeper.
According to The Mirror, United will hand Henderson a new contract and then loan him out for the 2018-19 campaign, with Leeds, Villa, Sheffield United, Norwich City and Swansea to be interested in him.
The 21-year-old is a very good and talented young goalkeeper, and his performances for Shrewsbury Town this past season were very encouraging.
However, it would be a mistake for Leeds to sign the United rising star even on loan, as they already have their own talented and young goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell.
Peacock-Farrell established himself as the first-choice goalkeeper at Leeds towards the back-end of the 2018-19 campaign.
The 21-year-old Northern Ireland international can only improve if he is shown confidence and gets regular playing time, and signing another youngster for the same position would not make much sense for Leeds.
On the other hand, Villa do need a player like Henderson. With Sam Johnstone going back to United after his loan spell at Villa Park and the Villans having FFP issues, the 21-year-old would be a shrewd signing for Steve Bruce’s side.
Villa will probably have to rebuild their squad next season, and signing a very promising goalkeeper Henderson on a season-long loan deal would lessen the workload.
