West Ham United are a club in crisis with fingers being pointed in all directions and everyone having their say on what is going wrong.

The Hammers are suffering a torrid second season under Slaven Bilic and currently sit 17th in the Premier League, one place and one point above the relegation zone.

Eight defeats from 13 games, an early exit from Europe and the second worst defence in the top flight tells its own story.

It has made for a miserable start to life at their new 60,000 seater Olympic Stadium home which has been blamed by some for the club’s terrible season so far.

But former West Ham and England striker Dean Ashton doesn’t buy into that and told the club’s official website what the side must start doing to turn their season around.

“This is a tough time for West Ham at the moment but everyone needs to stick together,” Ashton told whufc.com.

“The club is not being helped by injuries to key players and the weekend defeat against Arsenal was very disappointing.

“But we need to show more fight and be harder to beat and that will allow players such as Payet and Lanzini to show a bit of magic and nick a goal at the other end.”

Payet has come in for criticism from some supporters and pundits this season with suggestions he is not trying hard enough and is looking for a move elsewhere.

But in actual fact the Frenchman has still been one of West Ham’s better players, creating more chances than any other player in the top five leagues in Europe.

Meanwhile Manuel Lanzini has been far from the worst player this season even if he hasn’t quite hit the heights of last term.

What West Ham’s owners should have done in the summer was sign another top class creative player to take the pressure off those two with sides having worked the Hammers out somewhat this season.
