Ollie McBurnie shared during a Q/A on his Instagram Live that he used to ‘throw’ Tottenham defender Joe Rodon about in training.

The duo played together at Swansea, before McBurnie got a big-money move to Sheffield United in 2019 and a season later Rodon followed him to the Premier League, but with a move to Spurs.

Both were outstanding performers during their time in England’s second-tier, but for Rodon his game time went down the drain at Spurs towards the end of the recently concluded campaign.

Whilst McBurnie suffered an even more difficult season with the Blades by finishing rock-bottom and getting relegated.

At first, McBurnie was joking about the size of Rodon’s head when he was asked about the player.

“It’s way too big for his body because he’s skinny as owt,” joked McBurnie. “I used to throw him around in training. And he will tell you that himself.”

It was a pretty indifferent campaign for Rodon in what was his first season in the Premier League.

Tottenham were pretty abject in defence, but he was one of the very few shining lights even though his form wasn’t consistent.

But that was understandable given his inexperience and the fact that he wasn’t played on a weekly basis.

Plus, it’s not like those around him were pulling up trees, but the fact that he didn’t play when Ryan Mason took charge would have hurt him.

So, when Daniel Levy finally appoints a new face in the dugout, it will be interesting to see how the Welshman will be used.
