Speaking on ITV’s pre-match coverage of England vs Czech Republic (22/6/21 7:30PM), Roy Keane has been waxing-lyrical about West Ham United midfielder Tomas Soucek.
Soucek was a real star of the 2020/21 Premier League season, helping West Ham towards a spot in next season’s Europa League, and one man he has impressed is Roy Keane.
Indeed, Keane had nothing but good thing to say about Soucek prior to England’s clash at Euro 2020.

Keane says that Soucek is a proper old-fashioned midfielder and that he loves to watch him.
“I’m worried about what he does on the football pitch. He’s one hell of a player. He’s a proper old-fashioned box to box midfielder and he’s got a goal in him. He’s had a good season at West Ham and I bet David Moyes is delighted with him,” Keane said.
“Very good at attacking the ball, but also at defending set-pieces. He is an excellent player and a good old-fashioned box to box midfielder and you love to see him.”
Euros impact
Soucek may have been one of the best midfielders in the Premier League last season, but he’s yet to have the desired impact at the European Championships.
Luckliy for the Czech Republic, they’re through to the Round of 16, so Soucek will have a further chance to strut his stuff on the international stage.
Don’t be surprised if the midfielder pops up with a couple of vital goals and takes the Czech Republic far into this tournament.
As Keane says, Soucek is an excellent player and West Ham have got a gem.
