Tony Cascarino told talkSPORT on Saturday morning that it would be a ‘hell of a deal’ if Everton signed Asmir Begovic.

talkSPORT have reported that Everton are keen to bring the experienced goalkeeper to Merseyside.

The Premier League title-winner with Chelsea was on Bournemouth’s books last season and failed to earn promotion with the Cherries, who were beaten by Brentford in the play-offs.

Brentford fan and presenter, Natalie Sawyer, shared that she hopes Begovic has ‘changed his attitude’ since his antics during that play-off showdown.

Whilst Cascarino was seemingly left shocked at the amount of money Begovic was earning in England’s second-tier with Bournemouth.

“I hope Asmir Begovic has changed his attitude since that second leg of that play-off at Brentford,” said Sawyer. “Where he was a little unprofessional at times, one might say.”

“70k-a-week at Bournemouth,” said Cascarino. “But that’s still a hell of a deal.”

For a number two, Everton have a safe pair of hands and experience to back up their thriving shot-stopper, Jordan Pickford.

But Everton fans will be well aware that improving their bench, at this moment in time, isn’t their priority.

Sorting out their starting XI, including the wide areas, a creative talent and possibly centre-back is something that needs to be looked at.

But it does seem as though the first player Benitez is going to bring through the Goodison Park doors is Begovic.
