Marcelo Pitaluga has been tipped to make ‘football history’ at Liverpool by his former Fluminense teammate Muriel Becker – the brother of Anfield star Alisson.
Arguably the finest shot-stopper in world football is currently standing tall between the sticks at Anfield.
Although, if reports are to be believed, Premier League and Champions League winner Alisson will be joined on Merseyside by another Brazilian goalkeeper with huge potential.
Teen sensation Pitaluga is only just getting started, but a Liverpool side who unearthed rough diamonds such as Sepp Van der Berg, Ki-Jane Hoever and Harvey Elliott obviously see something special in the Brazil youth star.
UOL reports that Liverpool will pay around £2 million for Pitaluga, who is expected to sign a three-year deal and earn a substantial pay rise at Anfield.
“Pitaluga is there on his merits. Liverpool had been watching him for a long time. We know the potential he has, the great goalkeeper he is and, even more, what he will achieve,” Muriel, Alisson’s older sibling, told Globo Esporte.

“He is an excellent boy, from a good family, down to earth and he works hard. I’m sure he will make football history.
“We were very happy (to see him head to Liverpool). I am also happy that he will be Alisson’s companion, who will be able to help and accompany him. He is a boy who loves to learn, he is always listening. I am very happy with his success, he is deserving of it.”
Reports from South America have suggested that Liverpool see Pitaluga as Alisson’s heir.
But, with the latter in the form of his life and still just 27, the second-most expensive goalkeeper in the world has plenty of years left as Liverpool and Brazil’s number one.
That said, when Alisson is ready to hang up his gloves, the hope is that Pitaluga will be ready to take the baton.
