Speaking on his YouTube channel, Rio Ferdinand has given his point of view on the touchline spat between Mikel Arteta and Jurgen Klopp at the weekend.
Things kicked off between Arteta and Klopp after Sadio Mane hacked down Takehiro Tomiyasu, and the ensuing argument really riled up the Anfield crowd.
The game then turned on its head as the Liverpool players seemed to feed off of the energy inside of the stadium, and Ferdinand believes it was a bit naïve of Arteta to react as he knew it would fire up the crowd.
What Ferdinand said about Arteta
Ferdinand gave his view on the incident.
“I watched the game and Liverpool turned the screw, they turned the screw after Arteta and Klopp’s spat on the touchline that Arteta started. That was naïve for me, at Anfield, you don’t want to gas up that crowd and whip them up. You have a go at Klopp when you’re one or two up, not when the game is on a knife-edge and I think that was a bit of naivety on Arteta’s behalf. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt, he’s a young manager and he’ll learn from that,” Ferdinand said.

Not just him
Arteta is a young manager, so you can excuse this type of behaviour, but it’s not just the Spaniard who has fallen foul to this.
Jose Mourinho has been known to throw water bottles in the past, while we’ll never forget Arsene Wenger being sent to the stands against Manchester United all of those years ago.
Ferdinand may say it’s naïve, but in our view, it’s just raw emotion and sometimes that can get the better of even the calmest managers.
