Some Arsenal fans on social media have been reacting after it was reported that Newcastle United have an interest in Eddie Nketiah.
What’s the story with Nketiah?
The Magpies are in need of a new striker after Callum Wilson went down with an injury against Manchester United.
The Tyneside club have been linked to a number of fairly big names in recent months, but a more realistic option they’ve been linked to is Nketiah.
The 22-year-old has reportedly been scouted by the Magpies for a number of years, and as he enters the final six months of his contract, he looks to be a very attainable target for Eddie Howe’s side.
What Newcastle need
With Wilson out, Newcastle need a player who knows how to put the ball in the back of the net, and Nketiah certainly has that striker’s instinct.
Yes, his goalscoring record at senior level isn’t spectacular, but don’t forget, most of his appearances have been off the bench.
A greater indicator of this young man’s talent is his England U21 record, and no player in history has scored more goals than Nketiah at that level.
This striker could be exactly what Newcastle need right now.

Fan reaction
There was an interesting reaction from Arsenal supporters. Some said that it’s time for the club to cash in, while others expressed sadness at the fact that things hadn’t worked out for the Englishman at the Emirates.
