Manchester City talent Ferran Torres is reportedly at the centre of interest from La Liga giants FC Barcelona. With the Catalan side meeting with the Premier League champions on Friday.
According to ESPN, Barcelona are keen to sign Torres in January. With the Spanish international, who only joined City last year for £20m according to Sky Sports News, eager to return to his home country.
Despite Torres impressing for Pep Guardiola’s side since arriving in 2020, it appears that the 21-year-old want to head back to Spain. And Barcelona are now interested in the attacker, even despite the La Liga side’s financial problems.
As per the report, City will only allow Torres to leave if they receive a hefty transfer fee from Barcelona. And with the UEFA Champions League club over €1bn in debt, this entire transfer could be off the table before it’s even started.
Indeed, it makes sense why Torres would be open to moving to Barcelona. Under new manager Xavi Hernandez, there’s a sense of belief around the Spanish titans for the first time in a very long time.
However, a transfer could be difficult due to Barcelona’s financial woes and Torres’ role for City. With the youngster often being used as the focal point of the attack since arriving from Valencia last summer.

Whilst Torres could have a stellar future at City, some fans on social media are fuming with the youngster’s intentions of wanting to return to Spain With some supporters open to selling the forward.
After all, injury has kept Torres out for most of the season. And with Erling Haaland seemingly a top target for City, selling the attacker could recoup some vital funds to sign the Borussia Dortmund star.
