Gary Neville told Sky Sports News (01/09/21 at 9:15 am) that Tottenham striker Harry Kane will be ‘disappointed’ after he failed to earn a move during the summer transfer window.
The TV pundit was reacting to Kane’s recent comments where he told BBC Sport that he has a ‘clear conscience’ after the saga surrounding him wanting a move to Manchester City.
It seems as though Pep Guardiola was trying a bit of a power play in the summer because he openly admitted he wanted the Tottenham man.
Any other manager openly admits such a thing then they are probably getting criticised by the media, but not Pep it seems.
Either way, following Kane’s latest comments, this is what Neville had to say about the striker.
“At the end of the day, he has tried to leave the football club,” said Neville. “And he obviously has a number of years left on his contract.
“I can see why he tried to leave Tottenham. If Manchester City are offering you a position in their team, under Pep Guardiola, it would have been a life-changing experience for him. The ability for him to win trophies.
“Tottenham have a good start to the season. But the reality is that they aren’t going to win the Premier League. Manchester City have a great chance to win the Premier League.
“If Harry Kane had gone there then it would have been sort of a near-on banker. I think, from that point of view, he will be disappointed. I also think he is sensible to understand that he has given a lot to Tottenham and it will be forgotten about when he starts scoring goals for them again.”

Given Kane’s late start to the new season, he still hasn’t got his engine running at full speed and he will be hoping to really get warmed up over the international break.
England take on Hungary in a World Cup qualifier on Thursday evening and Kane will be expected to start.
It’s perhaps a good sign for Nuno Espirito Sano that Kane isn’t anywhere near his best, yet they have three wins from three without a goal conceded.
Kane won the Golden Boot last season, but with a certain Cristiano Ronaldo returning to the Premier League, he now has even more competition for that prize.
Whilst the England captain will be up there with the Premier League’s top-scorer this season, one title he will probably find very difficult to keep hold of is being the highest assist-maker.
