The Watford midfielder would undoubtedly be a useful addition for Arsenal.

Paul Merson suggested that Arsenal should sign Watford midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure this month, when speaking exclusively to Sky Sports.
The Gunners have made a reasonable start to life under Unai Emery, and they are well in contention to finish inside the Champions League spots, with just three points separating them and fourth placed Chelsea.
Arsenal have been incredibly weak defensively, however, in spite of adding two top quality holding midfielders in the summer in the shape of Lucas Torreira and Mattéo Guendouzi.
Merson insisted that his former club should still be looking to strengthen in that department, however, when speaking exclusively to Sky Sports, suggesting that Hornets ace Abdoulaye Doucoure should be the next man through the door at the Emirates:

“They should sign Abdoulaye Doucoure at Watford – he’d walk into the team. I’d take him tomorrow morning. He’s a much better player than Torreira and he scores goals.”
The 26-year-old Frenchman is an incredibly powerful midfielder, and he would add a certain level of tenacity and drive to the Gunners’ midfield.
Doucoure will not come cheap, however, and with Arsenal lacking any kind of funds this month, bringing him to the Emirates will surely be next to impossible until the summer.
