Stephen Warnock has been speaking about Jordan Pickford on Sky Sports, and he had some strong words to say about the Tottenham target.

What’s the story?

Well, Warnock was speaking after the £30m man conceded four goals to Crystal Palace as Everton were hammered 4-0 in the FA Cup Quarter-Final.

By the sounds of it, the Sky Sports pundit really isn’t a fan of Pickford.

Warnock said: “I wouldn’t want to play in front of Jordan Pickford, because I’d be thinking please be quiet. The way he’s acting, the way he goes about things, he’d drive me insane!

“You’re a goalkeeper, do your job and save the ball. Don’t moan at people for getting shots away. He’s just so animated, that for me, every time I see him I think there’s a mistake coming or he’s out of control in what he’s doing constantly.”

His comments come after The Telegraph revealed that Antonio Conte wants Spurs to sign Pickford, with the north Londoners now thinking about a long-term replacement for Hugo Lloris.

So far this season, the 28-year-old has endured a miserable time, conceding 44 goals in 25 Premier League games, while only keeping four clean sheets.

Interestingly, five of those goals came against Tottenham recently as the north Londoners battered Everton in N17.

After that match, we wouldn’t be surprised if Conte has changed his mind.

Tottenham must avoid Jordan Pickford

We feel that Warnock has been a bit harsh on Pickford with his comments, as many goalkeepers tend to scream and shout at their backline.

However, we do believe that Tottenham should avoid a move for the ex-Sunderland man.

Pickford can be a rash goalkeeper, who makes odd decisions and rarely looks commanding in the air or on the ground.

His kicking is impressive, and his reflexes are also eye-catching, but he wouldn’t offer much of an upgrade on Lloris, in our view.

Across Europe, there are surely better goalkeepers out there for Conte and Fabio Paratici to analyse.
